Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences - www.oscars.org
This site has information about the Academy, including past winners. It also has a pretigious screenwriting competition, the Nicholl Fellowship. Under this section you’ll find one of the best guides to screenplay format around and no you don’t need to buy fancy software or waste time learning how to use it!

There is no substitute for reading Aristotle, but if you must cheat, this is website gives a good summary of his big ideas. They are timeless.
Writer’s Guild of America www.wga.org
This is THE screenwriter’s union. Their website offers a tab for “writer’s resources” where you can investigate agents, and also a tab for “writing tools” where you can confuse yourself even further with more places to get help!
